sad news

Wow. I saw a photo of Trader Vic's in this morning's paper and I joked to my husband, "What...are they tearin' down Vic's now?" He said "Yes" and I thought it was a joke. I moved to Los Angeles in 1985 and have watched it slowly change for the worse. One by one all the places tha...

LAUSD

Lynxwiler, you are right! LAUSD is so very corrupt. The fiasco of Belmont; what a $$$ toxic waste! They make big mistakes so that they may create big paychecks for themselves. Truly evil!

Rodney!

Yes Rodney ate at R'N R Dennys a lot. He also ate at the Orange Drive I HOP back in the '80's. More recently he had a standing Saturday night reservation at the Mel's on Hollywood & Highland where I was his regular waitress. He always ordered the same thing! What a down to earth guy. He sometime...

Sissy Frills

I have to mention one more ad I have for B'Way H'wood from 1942..."This Season's New Trend...Sissy Frills"! What a scream! This was a ladies blouse bedecked with scads of ruffles. Too chi-chi! Sissy Frills!

I am very happy to see Johnie's/Romeo's resurrected for yet another lifetime as a coffee shop. L.A. sorely needs it! As for its 99 cent mother, thats ok by me. Paint it purple if you want! I do agree that some sort of care should be taken to save the original interior...just look what happened to po...

restaurant booths

They can be found! I had a beautiful red booth from the Dog House that I just sold for only $40! You have to look though. I find them a lot in alleys. Maybe make a post on the "collecting" page of this site? Also check e-Bay. For a mere 100 bucks, I bought a great Eames-style dinette that had been u...

L.A. songs

I love trivia questions! Here's a few I thought of... "Still in Hollywood" by Concrete Blonde "On the bus today, I met the queeen of L.A..." "Invisible" by Possum Dixon "My head aches...Echo Park turns to Silverlake..Millie's diner is closed today.." or "Nerves", "Griffith Park getaway, is what I ne...

Hi, this looks like a great new message board! I want to ask Franklin Hills if he knows of any Pershing Square ghost stories? My husband works in the Pacific Center and everyone he talks to seems to be experiencing something...I know the Conservancy is housed there too. Has anyone seen or heard anyt...
